The Perfect Storm

So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Since this is the first blog post that I have done in the last year, my readers are probably wondering if I fell off of the face of the earth or my computer kidnaped?

I think the title “perfect storm” describes the upside down, whirlwind experience that I have survived over the last year. My new job and the planning/celebration of our daughter’s wedding along with the planned events and responsibilities of my lifestyle prior fall 2012.

I love my new job….. and I enjoy planning and designing weddings. But… over the  last year, I noticed that in most cases, everything seemed to have to be done or was due at the same time. WOW!! Talk about hair greying, nerve testing periods of time!

I can reflect back at the work events, smile to myself and admit that I am glad that I survived them and cry with joy as I look at beautiful wedding pictures from our daughter’s precious day.

As, I check my calendar and see that it will be August soon… I am hit with the realization that my first year as an Assistant Professor for a local university is now drawing to a close.  When I am planning and working through the major reports and events of this year, time seems to move at such a SLOW… pace. Checking the calendar and checking off my list felt like it was taking FOREVER…..

Reflection and celebration of success seems to happen as quickly as a snap of your fingers…

I have to stop… in the midst of the storm to enjoy the beauty and identify the help that I have to assist when I feel overwhelmed and alone.
